2022: AngelSense Saves the Day, 8 Best Stories

December 29, 2022

As we look back at 2022, here at AngelSense, we’re moved by the thousands of thank you emails we received this year. Each one detailed either how daily living has steadily become more manageable, or the dramatic moment their story turned from near-tragedy to happy ending.

We are so proud to have helped thousands of special needs families. From quickly finding children who’d wandered off, to stopping bullies, helping seniors, training people to practice new skills on their own, and ensuring countless safe bus rides, it‘s been a busy and impactful year!

Here’s a recap of some of the stories that touched us most in 2022:

1. “THE SCHOOL DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE”

My 7-year-old son with autism walked out of his elementary school today. I got an alert on my phone and saw that he was on the run. Frantic, I called his school and they said, “Oh, we didn’t even know he was missing.” Through the AngelSense Share Live Location feature, I was able to get the police quickly involved in the search. By the time police caught up with him, he had gone up seven city blocks (crossing one of the busiest streets in the city!) to his younger brother’s school. I encourage all parents of kids with autism to get AngelSense. -Maya B.

2. “SO MUCH MORE PEACE IN OUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE”

I have a 21-year-old, 150-pound, runs-like-the-wind son. Two days after we received our AngelSense, I went to the bathroom and came out to find my son had TAKEN OFF. By the time I realized, he was already a few hundred yards away, DEEP IN THE FOREST. I saw exactly where he was on the AngelSense app. I caught up to him using the Show My Location feature in the app. Crisis totally averted.

Panic, nervousness, and trauma have come to be a way of life for some of us. Before AngelSense, I was basically staring at the gate ALL DAY, making sure he didn’t take off. Now, life is so much easier, knowing that I can see where he is at all times. -Jason

3. “MY HUSBAND WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT”

Within the first week of getting the AngelSense Watch, my husband went on a trip alone. My husband didn’t call back when he was supposed to, so I called his cell phone. No answer. In a panic, I remembered the AngelSense Watch and called it. I could hear my husband with a state trooper talking about a car accident!

I called the watch again and started calling out my husband’s name. The state trooper said, “Sir, I think your watch is talking!” My husband answered, I got the details of the accident, and was reassured that he was fine. -Debbie S.

4. “THOSE 3 MINUTES I COULDN’T FIND HIM FELT LIKE 12 ETERNITIES”

We went to a very big playground. I stopped to tie my shoe, and when I looked up after maybe 15 seconds, my son was gone. Luckily, I had set the parameters of the park as a geo zone in my AngelSense app. The moment he stepped outside the parameters of the park, I received a notification. I activated the speakerphone and heard him running, but I didn’t know if he was running toward me or further away from me. I was terrified. I realized he was running back into the park when I heard the ice cream truck next to me through the speakerphone. I was able to catch up to him in minutes thanks to the AngelSense Runner Mode features. -Daviion W.

5. “WITHOUT ANGELSENSE, I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN”

Anthony is a 7-year-old boy with autism. He’s non-verbal and has no sense of danger. On the 2nd day of school, the bus company never showed up to pick him up and bring him home. The school didn’t call me. The only way I knew something wasn’t right, was through AngelSense. AngelSense has been an invaluable tool in Anthony’s safety. -Anthony’s Mom

6. “HE’S DONE IT ALL BY HIMSELF”

I let my son Tommy go all the way up the block. And when he turned the corner, I checked on him through the app. He circled the entire block without anyone’s help! After 5 minutes he was back. This is something I could never do before getting AngelSense! -Jeannie

7. “MY SON’S TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL WAS EASY AS PIE”

Alex started his freshman year of high school this year. It’s a HUGE TRANSITION FOR HIM: new building, new teachers, new classes. New things usually trigger bolting and odd behaviors for him. But with AngelSense, as he goes to PE and lunch, and all of the small transitions between classrooms, I’m there for him if he needs me and this has made all the difference in the world! -Tamara

8. “SHE TOOK A CITY BUS BY HERSELF TODAY”

AngelSense is a means to independence for my 17-year-old daughter. Today, I was at her therapy clinic and she was able to meet me there BY HERSELF. At the end of the day, she did not get on the school bus, but instead boarded paratransit and called me to let me know she was on her way. This is a huge milestone in our lives. She is not able to safely use a cell phone. If she gets confused, she can call me through AngelSense. And if she is not here in a reasonable time, I have peace of mind knowing that I can call her to check-in. I am thankful for the supported independence that this is giving her. -T.F.
