The Challenge
Before adopting AngelSense, Bergen County families dealing with wandering and elopement, were frequently overwhelmed, with few preventative options. The Sheriff’s Office relied on Project Lifesaver, which offered basic tracking and came with critical limitations: it required specialized equipment, constant battery maintenance, and law enforcement activation for every search.
Families had no real-time access to their loved ones’ locations and were entirely dependent on emergency responders. Every incident meant dispatching officers, consuming time and resources, and increasing the stress on already vulnerable families.
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office serves a large population of families impacted by autism and dementia. With frequent elopement incidents, they sought a better way to protect vulnerable individuals while easing the burden on emergency services.
